Here’s what to look for when booking a DJ and planning your wedding event: · Ask for references. It may be the most important thing you can
do. · Know who your DJ will be. Look for an experienced professional.
And make sure the company you book will not contract out your event to a third
party. · Choose a company that is willing to help coordinate your big
event. A minimum of two consultations should be included. · Create a timeline for the evening and then stick with it.
However, various things can arise that will affect the flow of your evening. · Make sure the DJ will be dressed appropriately. If it is
black-tie, the DJ should be in full tuxedo. Khaki’s and sport coat may be
appropriate for an outdoor event. Specify before hand. · Go over the music in advance. Create a list of must play and do
not play songs. This helps the DJ understand your musical tastes and what the
expectations will be. · Expect to pay up to $150 an hour for a reputable DJ service. · Try to attend at least one bridal show where you can compare
many vendors side by side. Bridal shows are usually scheduled at the first of
the year. · Book early. A year in advance is not too early. · Get it in writing. Get a signed contract. Deposits vary in size
and typically are not refundable if the event is cancelled. The remaining
balance is typically due the night of the reception. · Remember that communication is the key to a successful event. Entertainment should be designed to
incorporate the many diversified tastes of your guests. |
